Focus and Scope

Rheedea is an international journal dedicated to the study of the taxonomy, systematics, and ecology of angiosperms and other plant groups. The journal aims to promote research in plant taxonomy with a special focus on Indian and tropical floristics.

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process by experts in the field. Reviewers are given the option to remain anonymous, and authors are encouraged to suggest potential reviewers. However, the editorial board retains the final decision on the selection of reviewers. The review process is designed to ensure the integrity, quality, and relevance of the submitted research.

Publication Ethics

Author Responsibilities
  • Originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal. Manuscripts found to be duplicate submissions will be rejected.
  • Permissions: Authors must obtain the necessary permissions for reproducing previously published material (figures, tables, etc.) and ensure proper attribution as required by the copyright holder.
  • Authorship: All listed authors must have significantly contributed to the research and agreed to the final manuscript before submission.
  • Plagiarism: Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, will not be tolerated. The editorial team reserves the right to reject any manuscript found to contain plagiarized content.
Reviewer Responsibilities
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality about the content of manuscripts they review. Information in the manuscript must not be shared or used for personal advantage.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if necessary. Authors may indicate any individuals who should not be invited as reviewers due to conflicts of interest.
  • Fair Review: Peer reviews should be objective, free of personal bias, and aimed at improving the quality of the manuscript.
Editor Responsibilities
  • Neutrality: Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair and unbiased review process. They must not have conflicts of interest with the authors of the submitted work.
  • Decision Making: Manuscripts are accepted based solely on their academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the field.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must keep all unpublished manuscripts confidential until the publication decision is finalized. Editors with conflicts of interest must delegate the editorial decision to another editor.

Dealing with Unethical Practices

Rheedea follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for addressing instances of unethical behavior. Any form of plagiarism, falsification, or fabrication of data will be treated with utmost seriousness. Breaches of publication ethics may result in the rejection of manuscripts and banning of authors from future submissions.

Journal History

Rheedea is a peer-reviewed journal established by the Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy (IAAT). It is named after the renowned Dutch botanist Hendrik van Rheede, known for his seminal work Hortus Malabaricus. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, and notes on the taxonomy, systematics, and biogeography of angiosperms, with a particular focus on the Indian subcontinent.
